Our team have been working like busy bees for our clients so it’s a wonder anyone has time to write anything of significance. Nevertheless, we have recently put together an free article titled “Fundamental Rules for Online Success”.
The article addresses many of the common questions we get asked by both clients and prospects like “How can I increase the amount of traffic to my site?” or “Do I have to promote my site through social media?” as well as some commonly held misconceptions about the design process and the industry itself.
To pick up a free copy of the article just click here for the download. If there are any other questions that you would like us to address in future articles, please send a post to support@jerichoproject.com.au and we will endeavor to cover the topic in future issues. Like my school teacher always said, “If you’re not sure about something then just ask - because everyone around you is probably wondering the same thing”.

how to organize your social media
|
 |
Many of you are probably wondering what the sudden fascination is with all this social media and networking. Facebook, twitter, Linkedin, if you’re not on it then you’re Johnny no friends and no one is talking to you at the office bubbler. The benefits are great though and although we won’t be covering them in this issue (watch out for future issues) we will be talking to those of you who are starting to get snowed under with all the friendship building.
The two players that are starting to emerge center stage for most are Facebook and twitter and here we will talk about their management as they need the most upkeep if you’re really to take advantage of them.
There are many twitter tools around – tweetree, twittergrader, wefollow, twellow – but my favourite by far is Tweetdeck.
Tweetdeck allows you to see all tweets from those you follow in one sexy desktop application. You can then break it down into columns, separating out your favourites, those who have replied to you directly, or my favourite, ‘TwitScoop’. This little search cloud lets you see the most popular items being tweeted (is that the plural?) indicated by their increasing font size.
Another favourite, an application that addresses both twitter and facebook together, is Seesmic. This tool has a similar interface to Tweetdeck but also incorporates all your facebook updates as well. The message area at the top is a similar layout to tweetdeeck also, however a small dropdown lets you alternate between either facebook or twitter depending on where you want to send your message.
If you’re a social networking junky and can’t stay with just the popular few, then Ping.fm is for you. Pick from a large number of social media applications, login your details and then it’s one Ping to rule them all. Your message is put up once and then beamed out to every social media circus you’ve signed up for. Pretty neat.

what is a "landing page" and how can it help you?
|
 |
As people become a little more tech savvy we find more jargon creeping into the everyday language – ‘landing pages’ being one of them. This term seems to be piquing a few people’s curiosity at the moment so we thought we would outline what these ambiguous pages are and how they can help you.
Basically, a landing page can be a single page site or can be another page within your website, albeit with a very specific purpose.
The landing page is designed to create a singular focus on getting people to take action, usually through the completion of a form for a free consultation.
Their beauty lies in their application to any Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising that you have running with Google Adwords or banner ad. Once they click on the ad they ‘land’ on your website‘s landing page and are presented with all the information that prompted them to click on your ad in the first place. For example, you might have an online advertisement for a “site consultation” (one of the many services you offer). The landing page then goes into detail about that particular service and if done properly, prompts for a sales enquiry or a further follow up. That way the prospect is given only the information they’re interested in rather than having to wade through your whole site.
Apart from targeted offerings, the great thing about landing pages is that they can be measured through Google analytics, reporting how many people landed on the page, how long they spent there and whether they continued on to the buy page. This in turn can tell you how popular your service offering is and how successful your campaign is.
If you would like further information about landing pages and how you can implement them yourself, feel free to call us and we can show you how to take advantage of all the great tools mentioned here.

We personally use this site to wind down on a Friday afternoon because it’s just as good as falling asleep and dreaming. If you’ve ever been stuck for ideas, looking for an edge in what you’re doing, or just want to see some up-to-the-minute dopeness then we can’t recommend this site highly enough.
If you’re cashed up, you can always cruise the site for your next holiday destination then search the bars and events section to keep you busy while you’re there.
Personally, I like thecoolhunter for keeping me abreast of the latest coolness that will be parading through our area of Sydney. Check out TreeLife in Hyde Park February 2010 - a collection of tree houses designed by the worlds top architects, designers and artists.
Thankyou coolhunter. We love you.
